If you’ve ever dealt with a spilled drink, a bed-wetting accident, or dust mite allergies, you know how important a good mattress protector is. The Mellanni 100% Waterproof Mattress Cover promises to shield your mattress from liquids, allergens, and everyday wear while remaining noiseless and breathable. We put it through real-world tests to see if it lives up to the hype.

In this review, we’ll cover the cover’s materials, fit, waterproof performance, comfort, and how it compares to other protectors on the market. Whether you’re a parent, a pet owner, or someone with allergies, read on to find out if this mattress cover is the right choice for your bed.

What Is the Mellanni 100% Waterproof Mattress Cover?

The Mellanni 100% Waterproof Mattress Cover is a fitted sheet-style protector designed to encase your mattress on all sides. It features a waterproof membrane that blocks liquids while allowing air to circulate, preventing heat buildup. The top layer is made from a soft, quiet fabric that doesn’t crinkle like traditional plastic protectors. It’s available in standard mattress sizes and fits depths up to 18 inches, making it compatible with most mattresses, including those with pillow tops.

Unlike some protectors that only cover the top, this cover wraps around the entire mattress, offering protection from spills, stains, dust mites, and allergens. The hypoallergenic barrier is ideal for allergy sufferers. Mellanni backs it with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a 10-year warranty, reflecting confidence in its durability.

• Material: Polyester knit top with waterproof TPU membrane
• Fit: Deep pocket design accommodates mattresses up to 18 inches
• Protection: Waterproof, hypoallergenic, dust mite barrier
• Care: Machine washable and dryable on low heat

Testing the Waterproof Performance

To test the waterproof claim, we poured 8 ounces of water onto the center of the cover and let it sit for 10 minutes. The liquid beaded up on the surface without soaking through. We then placed a paper towel underneath the cover to check for any moisture – it remained completely dry. Next, we simulated a more challenging scenario: red wine spill. After blotting the wine, there was no stain on the mattress underneath. The waterproof membrane held up perfectly.

We also tested the cover after five wash cycles to see if the waterproofing degraded. The cover still repelled water effectively, though we noticed slight pooling on the surface rather than immediate beading. For everyday spills and accidents, this cover provides reliable protection. It’s also noiseless – no crinkling sounds when you move, which is a common complaint with vinyl protectors.

• Water beaded and did not penetrate after 10 minutes
• Red wine wiped clean without staining mattress
• After 5 washes, waterproofing remained effective

Comfort and Breathability

One of the biggest concerns with waterproof mattress covers is heat retention. The Mellanni cover uses a breathable polyester knit top that feels soft and cotton-like. During a night’s sleep, we did not notice any significant temperature increase compared to sleeping without a protector. The TPU membrane is thin and flexible, allowing air to pass through. For hot sleepers, this is a major plus.

The fabric is also quiet – no rustling or crinkling when you toss and turn. The fitted sheet design stays in place thanks to the elasticized skirt. We tested it on a 14-inch thick mattress, and the deep pockets fit snugly without slipping. The cover adds minimal bulk, so your existing fitted sheet still fits easily over it.

• Breathable design prevents overheating
• No crinkle noise during movement
• Elastic skirt keeps cover secure on mattress

Durability and Care

We machine washed the cover in warm water and dried it on low heat as per instructions. After multiple washes, the fabric remained soft and the waterproof layer intact. No peeling or delamination occurred. The stitching is reinforced, and the elastic held its tension. This cover is built to last.

For best results, Mellanni recommends avoiding fabric softeners and bleach, as they can degrade the waterproof membrane. Air drying is also an option to extend the life of the cover. Given the 10-year warranty, you can expect this protector to serve you well for years.

• Machine washable and dryable (low heat)
• No fabric softeners or bleach recommended
• Reinforced stitching and strong elastic

How It Compares to Other Protectors

Compared to basic vinyl protectors, the Mellanni cover is far more comfortable and quiet. It’s also more affordable than premium bamboo or cotton protectors while offering similar performance. The deep pocket design is a standout feature – many competitors only fit mattresses up to 14 inches. For those with thicker mattresses, this cover is a great fit.

If you’re looking for a complete bedding upgrade, consider pairing this protector with the Mellanni Iconic 4-Piece Microfiber Sheet Set (Patterns) for a soft, breathable sleep surface. The sheet set complements the protector’s noiseless design and adds a pop of style to your bed.

• Better comfort than vinyl protectors
• Deeper pockets than many competitors
• Affordable price point
